Professional Experience

Sajjad Akhtar is the Executive Chairman of PKF-CAP LLP. PKF-CAP LLP was formed by a merger between Pannell Kerr Forster LLP and Cap Partnership thereby bringing together the combined resources of two firms in Singapore.

Sajjad was formerly a Senior Partner of Arthur Andersen, Singapore and worked with the firm for 27 years. Sajjad joined Arthur Andersen in London Office in 1975 and transferred to Singapore in 1980. He has extensive attest and consulting experience with clients ranging from large multinationals to small and medium growing enterprises operating in a diverse range of industries. Several of his SME clients went on to listings through Initial Public Offerings.

At Andersen he was a member of the Firm's international panel of experts on International Accounting Standards and for several years headed the Professional Standards Group in Singapore. For 2 years from 2007 to 2009 he was a member of Singapore's Accounting Standards Council, the statutory body established under the Accounting Standards Act of 2007, which prescribes Accounting Standards for Singapore.

In advisory work, Sajjad has led numerous assignments relating to business valuation. In addition, he has extensive experience in claims and dispute consulting and litigation services including testifying in court as expert witness. He has assisted / advised in various types of disputes, including construction claims, minority rights issues, business valuation, commodity future trades, professional negligence, breach of directors fiduciary duties, lender liability claims and partnerships dissolutions.

Sajjad has significant experience in corporate insolvency and recovery services having been appointed to several high profile assignments over the years. He has successfully advised businesses on recovery strategies involving a combination of asset sales, divestments and restructuring of debt and equity so as to reconstruct balance sheets of businesses resulting in viable going concerns.
